WATERLOO Municipal BAND

Celebrating more than 80 years

On the Monroe County courthouse lawn in Waterloo, Illinois, on any summer Tuesday night you can find a true touch of Americana as the conductor strikes up the Waterloo Municipal Band for another concert.

At 8:00 every Tuesday night during June, July and August, the band performs a free concert at the corner of Main Street and Third. Our repertoire includes marches, show tunes, standards, some light classical selections, and yes, a little rock and roll! In keeping with the German heritage of the community, the band also indulges the crowd with an occasional polka. In addition to the regular Tuesday concerts throughout the summer, the band participates in local Memorial Day, festival events and holiday celebrations.

Celebrating more than 80 years of bringing music to residents of Waterloo and surrounding communities, the band has more than 50 members. Our musicians are people from all walks of life including teachers, lawyers, bankers, retirees and students, and they hail from numerous communities in both Illinois and Missouri.

The band rehearses on Tuesday nights at 8:00 P.M. in the off season in the lower level of Waterloo City Hall. If you are a musician or a former musician looking to return to your musical abilities, join us on Tuesday nights from October through May for practice and camaraderie.

The band would like to thank the citizens of Waterloo for their continued support of the band over the years. In addition, we would like to extend our gratitude to the local businesses that have sponsored some of our concerts. Audiences enjoy the free frozen custard you provide on those special nights.

We invite you to grab a lawn chair or blanket and join us each Tuesday in June, July and August for an evening of music under the stars in historic Waterloo.
